Poem for 14/11

——————————–

It has been, what, a month?
You didn’t give me anything
You once pulled out a rose
And it stood for how long you would love me

It has been, what, a year?
You didn’t give me anything
You once recorded “Good morning sunshine”
And it was in a cassette player, on my table

It has been, what, five years?
You didn’t give me anything
You once put a jacket over me
And it was warm and lovely and I brought it home

It has been, what, ten years?
You didn’t give me anything
You once kissed me goodbye
And that was the last thing you gave me

Your flower was plastic, you fool
The player can only play your cassette now, you dork
Your jacket’s too big for me still, you idiot
And I miss you so much. Oh so much.
